yes, in cash …
yes, in cash accounts you cannot short because their is potentially infinite risk while in a margin account it is possible. if it happens to be the case that you do not have a margin account, use products that a derivative inverse functions. like fas faz combo

Tks Andy, yes I have noticed that you used SIGMA in the past but ARCA since of late….IB charges for ARCA but at the same time if you dont subscribe to it they route the order as a ’smart’ and the order can be broken up and sent to different exchanges to get filled. I will be subscibing to it this month to see the difference. btw I want to try out Tradeideas could you or Steve pls send me the configuration that you’ll use – Tks

It depends on the sofware and the broker you are using. I was using SIGMA (GS inhouse auto routing) and felt like I wasn’t getting the best fills so switched to ARCA

Awsesome Andy just simply awesome….managing that many postions is not easy….hats off to you. I have been following you and Steve for the longest time and I have yet to see a trader as consistent and especially calm as you.
One quick question, why do you choose the exchange you want to route to i.e. ARCA, is there a downside to letting it auto route ?, coz I thought it always look at the next best available price to fill your order ?
